01 / Sense · Proof of concept complete

Structural insight for assets that are difficult to monitor.

EchoNet™ is BeamGrid™’s RF-enabled structural health monitoring platform, developed to help infrastructure teams identify meaningful change at selected locations on critical assets. An Innovate UK Growth Catalyst-funded proof-of-concept programme has been completed. BeamGrid™ is now seeking a partner for a controlled, real-asset pilot.

Evidence stageControlled proof of concept

The concept was modelled, prototyped and evaluated under controlled conditions.

Next gateReal-asset field pilot

Establish repeatability, operational robustness and value against agreed reference measurements.

The operational case

Better evidence between inspections, without avoidable complexity.

Infrastructure teams need timely, decision-useful information from critical locations, particularly where access, wiring or repeated manual inspection is difficult. EchoNet™ is being developed as a targeted monitoring layer within existing structural-assurance workflows.

01

Targeted awareness

Focus the pilot on locations, load cases and engineering decisions selected with the asset owner.

02

Practical deployment

Design a bounded trial around real site-access, safety, installation and maintenance constraints.

03

Evidence, not theatre

Assess performance against reference measurements and success criteria agreed before deployment.

Technology maturity

What is established and what still needs to be proven.

BeamGrid™ distinguishes completed work from field-validation objectives so partners can assess technical and deployment risk clearly.

Completed

Proof of concept

  • Innovate UK-backed programme completed
  • Design, modelling and prototype development completed
  • A controlled sensing response demonstrated
  • Initial pilot and evidence requirements defined
Current focus

Partnered pilot definition

  • Select the asset and monitoring decision
  • Agree the reference method and baseline
  • Define installation, access and data requirements
  • Set technical and operational success criteria
Next validation gate

Operational field evidence

  • Repeatability under representative conditions
  • Comparison with established reference measurements
  • Robustness across expected operational and environmental variation
  • Fit with existing inspection and engineering workflows
Priority pilot environments

Start with a defined asset and a decision that matters.

Bridges

Targeted structural evidence

Evaluate an agreed location or load case against an existing measurement or inspection method.

Rail and civil assets

Difficult-to-access locations

Run a bounded evaluation where access or continuous conventional instrumentation is operationally challenging.

Industrial structures

Condition-led monitoring

Gather evidence around a defined operating condition, load case or maintenance decision.
