Dr. Vedaprabhu Basavarajappa

Founder and CEO

Leads technology strategy and innovation in RF engineering and space-based energy systems. Vedaprabhu Basavarajappa earned his PhD from the University of Cantabria, Spain in 2018. He obtained his MS degree in Electrical Engineering with specialization in Telecommunication from TU Delft, the Netherlands in 2012 and his Bachelor degree in Electronics and Communication from Visvesvaraya Technological University, India. He started his career in antenna design and development when he joined as a Project Assistant in the Microwave Laboratory at the Department of ECE, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in 2008. He served as Research Assistant at the Antenna and Electromagnetic Modelling group- Fraunhofer FHR in Bonn, Germany where he carried out his Master’s thesis. He later joined Powerwave Technologies as Antenna Engineer. Following that he served as Marie Curie Fellow jointly at Queens University Belfast, UK and Bell Labs, Ireland. He worked as an Antenna Engineer at TTI Norte, Spain, as a researcher in the H2020 Marie Curie 5Gwireless ITN and as a PhD candidate at the University of Cantabria, Spain. Following this he was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Queen Mary University of London, London. He was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the 5G Innovation Center(5GIC)/ICS in the University of Surrey, Guildford, United Kingdom. He later worked at All Space. Following that he worked on space based solar power (SBSP) at Space Solar. He was recently a Senior RF Engineer at Domo Tactical Communications (DTC). His research interests include RF, 5G antennas, millimeter-wave technology, satellite antennas and phased-array antennas. He is a Senior Member of IEEE.

Scott Speer

Senior Advisory Board Member

Scott Speer is a visionary telecommunications professional with deep expertise spanning commercial and defense satellite systems, across both RF and optical domains. As the Founder of OpenSky Aerospace, he has led pioneering work in next-generation aerospace connectivity and resilient communication infrastructures.

Previously, he held senior technical and leadership roles at Northrop Grumman, contributing to advanced satellite communications programs and strategic technology development. He also served as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for 5G with the U.S. Office of the Under Secretary of Defense (OUSD), guiding secure and interoperable network architectures for national defense applications.

With a career that bridges industry, government, and global standards, Scott brings extensive board and advisory experience through active involvement in 3GPP, High-Altitude Platform Systems (HAPS) initiatives, and various international telecommunications consortia.

At BeamGrid Technologies, Scott serves on the Senior Advisory Board, providing strategic guidance on RF, optical, and hybrid space-terrestrial communication systems, helping shape the company’s roadmap toward next-generation, sovereign, and sustainable connectivity solutions.

Dr. Arpan Pal

RF Antenna Architect

Arpan Pal (M’09) received the Ph.D. degree in advanced telecommunications from Swansea University, Swansea, U.K., in 2013. He worked as a Research Assistant at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, India, from 2005 to 2006 and at Swansea University, in 2008. Thereafter, he worked as a Lecturer at the Asansol Engineering College, West Bengal, India. In 2014, He was a Research Assistant at The Institute of Electronics Communications and Information Technology (ECIT), Queen’s University of Belfast, Belfast, U.K.  Since December 2014, he has been a Research Assistant at Antenna and Smart City Lab, Swansea University, U.K. His research interest involves beam-steerable antennas, phased array antennas, frequency selective surface and surface-integrated waveguide antennas.

Dr. Satyanarayana Katla

AI/ML Architect

Satya received the Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Chennai, India, in 2014, and the Ph.D . degree in wireless communications from the University of Southampton, UK, in liaison with InterDigital, Europe, London, in 2019. During July 2014–August 2015, he worked as a Research Assistant with the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. , Satya led led several inventions and publications hinged on 3GPP Release 18/18+ and IEEE 802.11bf. Satya had co-authored a little over a 20 papers and is also the co-inventor of about 20 patent applications pivoted on 5G NR.
 
His interests include millimeter wave/terahertz communications, machine learning and signal processing for communications, transceiver algorithms for wireless communication systems.
